We all know the essence of the toilet as it is a place where human waste is conveniently removed, nonetheless; the toilet can constitute a lot of dangers to one’s health when not properly used.
Studies have shown that most people have placed themselves in different pitiable conditions due to common mistakes they make while using the toilet. Below are some of them.
1. Sitting on the toilet seat for too long.
This is one habit most persons are guilty of, especially while using their phones. The idea of sitting on the water closet seat for stretches of hours can affect the vein in the lower rectum which can lead to a swell or irritation at the buttock. This practice can also increase the risk of being infected by bacteria.
2. Carrying your phone to the toilet.
The toilet is not a safe place to keep the phone due to the presence of bacteria. When the phone is taken to the toilet, it allows bacteria to act on its surface which can be detrimental to one’s health. Many a time, most people don’t clean or sanitize their mobile phones which automatically increases the risk of transporting germs on the hands – which can likely end up in the mouth, especially while eating.
3. Leaving your toothbrush exposed.
As you already know, there is a high possibility of the existence of germs and bacteria in the toilet due to its nature of usage, hence; it wouldn’t be proper to leave anything that goes into the mouth uncovered. Exposing the toothbrush will only allow germs to impact on it which can be harmful when used on the teeth.
4. Flushing with the toilet seat lid closed.
For some reason, most people prefer to flush their waste in the water closet, most especially the solid one with the lid closed. Conforming to such a practice will only increase the possibility of not having all the waste removed from the surface. The rationale behind leaving the lid open while flushing is to be sure your waste was completely removed.
5. Standing in the water closet system to avoid placing your legs on the floor.
In a bit to prevent the legs from touching the floor, most people prefer to stand in the water closet while discharging their waste. This practice is very dangerous to health and life and must highly be discouraged. It is pivotal to know that the water system is made with ceramics, which makes it breakable. Standing on it can make it break due to its fragile nature which can be very dangerous when its broken part comes in contact with the body.
